Meet the Author: Imeisha Williams & Her Magical Storytelling Journey

Today, we’re thrilled to introduce Imeisha Williams, a talented children's author whose book encourages bravery and overcoming fears. In this exclusive Q&A, Imeisha shares her journey, inspirations, and the magic behind her storytelling.

What inspired you to write your children’s book?

I was inspired by my nephew, who’s also my Godson. I wanted to write a story that represents characters that look like him. My cousin, who’s more like a sister to me, encouraged me to take the leap and bring my magical story to life. I’m so thankful for my great support system!

What is the main message or lesson you hope children will take away from your book?

I hope my story teaches young readers to be brave and face their fears. I want them to understand that it’s okay to be afraid, but it’s also okay to stand tall and overcome any obstacles that come their way.

What was your favorite part of the book-writing process?

Creating the vision for the characters! It was beautiful to see those characters come to life on the pages of my book.

Can you share a personal experience or memory that influenced your journey as an author?

I’ve always been shy and an introvert, so public speaking isn’t my strong suit. I remember having to present a holiday-related project for work many years ago, and I was terrified to speak in front of everyone. Although I was afraid, I knew I had to be brave because my colleagues were depending on me. Once it was time for my presentation, I realized that it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Facing that fear helped me become more comfortable speaking publicly.

What do you love most about writing for children?

I’ve always had a vivid imagination, and I’m still a kid at heart. Sharing my stories filled with fantasy, fun, and magic with young children is special to me because there’s no rule that says you have to give up your imagination and dreams just because you’re older. I can share my stories until I’m 100 years old!

Who are some of your favorite children's authors or books, and why?

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll is my absolute favorite book of all time. The characters, the vividness of the story, and the overall feel of wonder and amazement got me hooked. I love stories about fantasy, sci-fi, and magic. This book has inspired me to tell and share my own whimsical stories.

If you could have a conversation with one of your book's characters, who would it be and why?

I would love to have a conversation with Zion the Magnificent. He’s fun, magical, and a great friend. I’d love to soar through the skies of Peach Tree Falls with him and ask him how his magic works and what inspires him to help children overcome their fears.

What are some of your favorite hobbies or activities when you're not writing?

I enjoy spending time with family, taking cruises, hiking, reading, being outdoors, and watching horror movies.

What has been the most rewarding moment since publishing your book?

Seeing my nephew’s face light up after seeing himself in the story. It’s a moment I will always cherish and remember.

What do you hope parents, teachers, or caregivers will appreciate most about your book?

I hope adults who share my book with young readers will also learn that it’s okay to face your fears, even as you grow older. It’s okay to be afraid whether you’re 5 or 95. I hope Adam’s journey will inspire adults to have meaningful conversations with young readers about any fears they may be facing in today’s society.
